How to download a video transcript via Descript

This system demonstrates how to download an extraction video to your PC and upload it in Descript so you can copy the transcript to be used in ChatGPT for documenting processes.

Coordinate with your supervisor for the login details of Descript.

System Details

Step 1: Download the extraction video

Locate the video that needs to be transcribed.

For internal documentation requests, the extraction video can be found in the corresponding Asana task request.

For external documentation requests, the extraction video can be found inside the system to be documented.

Click on download (usually the arrow down icon).

Rename the file as necessary.

 

Step 2: Upload the video in Descript

Log in to Descript.

Then click on New Classic Project.

Type in a title for the video.

Click on Choose a file and click on the video from File Explorer.

Wait for the upload to complete.

 

Step 3: Open a blank Google document

Go to your Google Drive.

Click on +New and choose Google Docs from the dropdown menu.

You may rename the document the same as the video name.

 

Step 4: Copy the transcript

Go back to Descript and check if the upload has been completed.

Once complete, highlight the complete transcript from top to bottom.

Right-click and choose Copy.

Go back to the blank Google document.

Right-click and choose Paste without formatting from the dropdown menu.
